Are you familiar with second infertility? It accounts for 50% of infertility cases.

Infertility isn’t always spoken on, because many feel embarrassed and it’s personal. Social media is full of pregnancy announcements, gender reveals and birthday celebrations and to tell the world that you no are is heartbreaking. It’s hard to be excited and congratulating others when for that very thing, you have been stripped of.
5 times I have carried and lost a baby, a piece of me.

Black women are 2xs more likely to experience fertility problems due to our toxic exposures, lack of vitamin D and more. We also have an even higher rate of powering through and not seeking care- mentally emotionally or physically.

Having SLE I’m also at a higher risk of infertility.

With Brianna and AJ I also developed Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP)-a liver disorder. My body produced to much of the pregnancy hormone, my bile flow was affected and caused itching that couldn’t be reached, along with premature labor and other things. All my kids were born 4-6 weeks early.

I had twice a week ultrasounds, with Brianna I spent 6 weeks straight in the hospital, with AJ I also had painful weekly shots. Lots of tears, fear and pretending. Lots of alone time in my thoughts. Self shaming.

There aren’t many situations in life, like pregnancy, that truly help you understand that you are not the one in control. I couldn’t do what my body is designed to do.

Some people can’t have kids and YES I am grateful but we have to stop forcing people to overlook grief. Grief is a part of life and there are no time limits on it. There are moments in life we just never forget.
I’m not sharing our story so that you will feel sorry for us. I’m sharing our story because I know I am not a failure as a woman or as a mom. I share my story because I know that there are people who go through this whole experience in silence. I share this because other people have shared their stories with me.
With it being infertility week I felt compelled to share my story and even how environmental toxins, lack of nutrition and an unhealthy gut can be contributing to your fertility struggles on my blog.

When I was a kid it just wasn’t convenient to order out, so it was a Friday or Saturday thing only. Some birthdays we would too. (Ad)

Times sure have changed you can get coffee and donuts delivered which lets everyone honest can be a blessing and a curse. What I do know for sure is that being a busy mom of four kids is tough and sometimes I fail to plan dinner or lose track of time and sometimes I just don’t want to cook no matter what day of the week it is 🤷🏽‍♀️🙈🤣 (tell me I’m not alone please 😩).

I’m beyond thankful that in 2021 ordering for my family is super convenient, affordable, and that Bob Evans has delicious home style meals 🤤 because at the end of the day it needs to taste good, am I right?! But seriously family meals are important and for some families it’s the only time of the day where you all are together.

We used @bobevansfarms super easy app to order food before heading home and they brought it to the car, which thank goodness because screaming babies that don’t like car seats (swipe). Got it home and bam dinner was done- we even had a fresh apple pie 🥧 for dessert too (make sure you check out my stories to see that beauty).

If you don’t change, you either evolve or you repeat.

You know what straight up sucks?

Repetition of the same old bull crap you keep telling and doing to yourself.

The bull crap I kept allowing to take over the things I wanted to achieve and the person I wanted to be. The fear I allowed to lie to me and hold me hostage.

I’ve had a lot of people ask me what changed in me and what I did to get where I was just 2,204 day ago to where I am now today.

HERE’S THE SECRET!!! ⬇️

THERE IS NO SECRET!

The secret is YOU! - It’s sitting down right now and making a 90 day goal plan. You gotta do it! - It’s working when you don’t want to. - It’s detoxing from EVERY single person and thing in your life that serves you no good. - It’s consistency every day. Even just a little bit. - Prioritizing and eliminating. - Prayer replacing doubt and fear. - Meditation.

And really, just getting up and doing the damn thing you’ve always wanted to do!

Where I am today came with a price.

It was expensive in ways that don’t have a money price.

It was hard.

It included tears.

Fear.

Doubt.

It also included so much happiness and growth!

It equaled success in ways I can’t put words to.

It was complete financial freedom.

Time freedom.

Health.

Security.

Pure joy.

You want something bad enough... you’ll do it! You’ve just got to change YOU first and the things you get up and do every single day.

Spent the morning, writing my new 90 day goal plan and I stepped it up a few hundred notches!

Working from wherever I please is my favorite of all time!

Watching my kids play and fight 😒

Sitting next to my hubs working too.

Enjoying every bit of my life right now.

I was abused mentally and physically as long as I

I was abused mentally and physically as long as I could remember- my earliest memory was 4. I wasn’t aware as a child I was being touched inappropriately and around 13 realized and no one was there to protect me. I was raped at 15 by a friend’s cousin. Relationship with mom was so strained I dropped out of college. I was pregnant at 19 years old, a single mom. More often then I’d like I admit, we didn’t have electricity and I can remember praying for my food stamps to be on the card while sitting in the grocery store parking lot.

I worked two jobs and hardly saw Layla- she was shuffled between friends, they sacrificed a lot for me, and I will forever be thankful. I didn’t know how I was going to afford diapers so I started potty training Layla really early. Some days I didn’t eat because I could only afford food for one. When ebt hit everyone liked my cooking and would come get food and I was to embarrassed to say no and why, plus I wanted people to like me.

I cried many nights because I was so mad that my life wasn’t where I had imagined it should be. I felt I deserved more and I wasn’t living. I became sick, in and out of the hospital and found out, I had lupus and fibromyalgia and was given a year to live. 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙...

That’s where the story could have stopped. But every damn day I woke up and fought for a better reality. I starting classes toward a degree in behavioral health. I kept plugging along, slow and steady. We moved to Rhode Island. I graduated with my undergrad while pregnant. I enrolled to get my Masters, moved to Delaware. Graduated while working, planning a wedding and running a business and didn’t know I was pregnant with Brianna, became a certified health coach. I started my doctoral to only become pregnant a few months later. I worked hard and sacrificed a lot and at times it wasn’t enough.

Stop allowing other people and their lack of growth keep you from what’s on your heart. Don’t allow anyone to kill your dreams. What you have no one else does, it’s your super power and was given to you for a reason. The vision is yours why are you sitting on it? The hardest but most rewarding thing you can do is show up for your life💓
