Ingredients
•1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
•1 1/4 pounds ground beef sirloin
•1/4 cup brown sugar (maybe more or less depending on how sweet you like it- we use about 1/3 cup
•1 tablespoon each garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves chopped garlic (can use less)
1 red bell pepper, and one green bell pepper chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar (once it starts cooking I add more- depends on how much tang you like)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon sherry wine
2 cups tomato sauce (I start with 1 cup and add more if needed)
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 hamburger buns, buttered and toasted on the griddle
Garnish with fresh parsley

Directions:
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil and meat to the pan. Spread the meat around the pan and begin to break it up. Combine brown sugar and seasonings. Add sugar and spice mixture to the skillet and combine. When the meat has browned, drain it then add sherry wine, onions, garlic, green and red bell peppers to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, peppers, red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce with meat for 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and paste to pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook mixture for 10 minutes- taste and adjust seasonings, tomato sauce and red wine vinegar per taste buds. Cook 5 mins longer, it’s done but you can turn it to low and allow flavors to coagulate 😉 longer if you want. The longer the better for more depth of flavor and richness. Butter bread and throw on grill top, or toaster oven to brown. Top mixture with fresh parsley. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, pile sloppy meat onto toasted, buttered bun bottoms and add pickles, raw onions or whatever you like.
